Stake vs BetFury: Following One Account From Sign-Up to a Dormant Balance

Stake and BetFury are two of the long-running names in crypto gambling, and I tested both the same way: a $100 deposit in Bitcoin, small stakes, then a BTC withdrawal. Both withdrawals arrived within the casino’s stated timeframe. Under our How We Rate method Stake scores 7.2/10 and BetFury 6.3/10.

A $100 test only shows the first few steps of an account’s life, though. The clauses that separate these two sit further along: what happens to a big win, how long verification can run, and what happens to a balance you forget about. So instead of a feature list, this page follows one account through nine stages and shows which casino’s rules you would be living under at each one.

The quick answer

  • Stake scores higher in five of the six categories and ties on the sixth. Its weak points are discretion: it can hold withdrawals during an investigation without explanation, ask for KYC at any time, cancel any bonus, and its restricted-country list is long.
  • BetFury names its operator, documents 2FA, has a big lobby with its own originals and live casino, and paid my test. Its weak points are written into the terms: a USD 300,000 single-win cap, instalments above USD 50,000, a KYC procedure that can run up to 30 days, and a 50 USDT monthly dormancy fee.
  • Both licences currently show an assessment in progress on the Curaçao register, but BetFury’s licence term has already ended, which is why I capped its licence score.

One account, nine stages

Each row is what my reviews record for that stage. The last column is my read of who handles it better, with the category scores where they apply.

9. If something goes wrongDisputes can go to CADRE, a CGA-certified ADR body (23.3)ADR route not documented on my reviewStake

“Not documented on my review” means I haven’t recorded the rule, not that the casino has none. That matters most in row 8: I can’t tell you Stake has no dormancy fee, only that BetFury’s is the one I have read and can quote.

Where the stages actually bite

Stage 3: bonuses work differently, not just better or worse

Stake doesn’t publish one welcome bonus. Reloads, rakeback, races and coupons each come with their own rules, cash balance is wagered before bonus balance (12.3), and Stake can cancel any bonus at its sole discretion (12.11), which my review marks as a medium red flag. BetFury runs a wagered welcome pack, and if you play its originals they count only 0.2x toward the wagering. If you mainly play originals, that 0.2x rate is the clause to read before you opt in. I haven’t itemised every clause of BetFury’s current pack, so its bonus score is provisional.

Stage 6: the big-win problem is BetFury’s clearest weakness

Most players will never hit USD 50,000 in one go, and if you won’t, this row may not matter to you. If you might, it matters a lot: at BetFury any single win is capped at USD 300,000, and wins above USD 50,000 may be paid in instalments. At Stake my review records no win cap; limits are shown in the wallet, so check them there before you play big. This row is most of the reason BetFury’s payout score is 6.5 against Stake’s 7.0, even though both paid my test.

Stage 7: both can ask for ID at any time

Neither casino lets you treat a crypto account as “no KYC”. Stake can request verification at any time and hold withdrawals until it is done (4.8, 8.1, 8.12). BetFury can do the same, gives itself 7 days to respond first and up to 30 days for the full procedure, and can close the account if you miss its timeline (17.2). BetFury’s public complaint themes, as noted on my review, are verification requests and withdrawal holds, which fits that clause. My practical advice for either: verify before you need to withdraw anything large.

Stage 8: the slow-burn cost

After 12 months of inactivity BetFury charges 50 USDT a month on a positive balance, and after 24 months the balance can be moved to a holding account. If you are the kind of player who leaves a small balance sitting, withdraw it before you stop playing. On Stake my review doesn’t record a dormancy rule either way, so read its current terms if this matters to you.

The licence question, side by side

How I scored it7.5: named operator, CGA licence and an independent ADR route6.0, capped: register term ended, renewal not confirmed

Both casinos are licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority and both register entries show an assessment in progress, so neither is a clean “verified active, nothing pending” licence. The difference is that BetFury’s term has already ended, while Stake’s certificate reads Active and Stake adds an independent dispute route through CADRE. That is why I give Stake 7.5 and cap BetFury at 6.0. I will re-check both register entries on the next terms review.

Where the 0.92 comes from

The last column is my own arithmetic: the score difference in each category multiplied by its weight. The column adds up to 0.925; the reviews publish Stake’s total as 7.17 and BetFury’s as 6.25.

Category (weight)StakeBetFuryWeighted difference
Payouts (30%)7.06.5Stake +0.15

Support (10%)6.5 (provisional)6.5 (provisional)Level
Weighted total (published)7.176.25Stake +0.92

The licence cap is the single biggest piece, worth about a third of the gap on its own. Games come next, but BetFury’s games score is provisional, so treat that part as less settled than the payout, licence and KYC rows, which rest on documented clauses.

Could BetFury close the gap?

Three of BetFury’s categories are provisional: bonus terms, games and support, worth 40% of the score together. A provisional category sits near the neutral 6.5 until I have documented it. Here is the generous case:

  • If all three came in a full point higher, BetFury would gain 0.40 and reach 6.65.
  • That is still about half a point behind Stake’s 7.17, because the gap is mostly built on documented clauses: the licence cap, the win cap and the 30-day KYC procedure.
  • Stake has only one provisional category (support), so there is less room for its score to move.

In other words, the ranking between these two is not close on current evidence. What could change it is the licence row, if BetFury’s renewal is confirmed, and the win-cap clause, if BetFury changes it. My review will be updated if either happens.

Who should pick which

Pick Stake if…

  • you want the higher score: 7.2/10 is the highest I have given any casino so far;
  • you want provably fair originals and a sportsbook in one account;
  • you might win big and don’t want a fixed single-win cap in the terms;
  • you want an independent dispute route (CADRE).

Watch for: the long restricted-country list (14.3), withdrawals held during investigations without explanation (8.2), and a large complaint volume in absolute terms (about 380 on Casino.guru, which gives it a Safety Index of 7.9). Trustpilot shows 3.8/5 from about 15,000 reviews, with a “regulatory attention” notice. Never use a VPN to get around restrictions.

Pick BetFury if…

  • you play at small to medium stakes, well under the USD 50,000 instalment line;
  • you want a large lobby with BetFury’s own originals and live casino;
  • you want 2FA, which my BetFury review documents;
  • you withdraw regularly and won’t leave a balance sitting for a year.

Watch for: the USD 300,000 win cap and instalments, anti-fraud holds of 7 days or more (9.1), KYC that can take up to 30 days (17.2), the 50 USDT dormancy fee, and the ended licence term.

My verdict

I would pick Stake. Both paid my $100 BTC test, but BetFury’s terms put hard limits on the parts of an account’s life a small test can’t reach: big wins, long verifications and idle balances. Stake’s risks are discretionary (holds, KYC, bonus cancellation) rather than fixed caps, and it scores higher on licence, games and payouts. BetFury remains a reasonable pick for small-stakes players who want its lobby and originals, verify early and withdraw often. If neither fits, see sites like Stake and sites like BetFury, or the full Best Bitcoin Casinos 2026 ranking.
