Crypto Casino KYC Rules Compared: When You’ll Be Asked for ID

“No KYC” is one of the most searched phrases in crypto gambling, and in my testing it’s mostly a myth. Not one of the casinos I tested promises you’ll never be asked for ID. What differs is when they can ask, what they can ask for, and what happens to your balance while you wait. That’s what decides whether a withdrawal goes smoothly, so it’s worth reading before you deposit.

I tested every casino below with real money: a $100 BTC deposit, small-stakes play and a BTC withdrawal, which arrived within each casino’s stated timeframe. KYC & account is 10% of our score under How We Rate. Where I haven’t documented a casino’s KYC rules yet, it gets a neutral provisional 6.5, and I say so. The table is sorted by KYC score, not overall rating.

What I look for in KYC terms

  • A stated trigger. A published threshold, like Cloudbet’s USD 2,200 in cumulative deposits, lets you have documents ready before you hit it. “At any time” means you should be ready from day one.
  • What they can ask for. ID and proof of address are standard. Selfies and video calls (mBit, Moonbet) take longer to arrange.
  • What happens while you wait. Several terms let the casino hold withdrawals until you’re verified (Stake 8.1, 8.12) or lock funds pending checks (Cloudbet 18.1.5).
  • Account rules that cost money. Dormancy fees (BetFury, Mirax) and inactivity rules (Thunderpick zeroes balances after 12 months) aren’t KYC strictly, but they sit in the same category because they affect your balance.

The clearest rules: Cloudbet and BitStarz (6.5)

Cloudbet is the only casino I tested that states its ID-check trigger up front: USD 2,200 in cumulative deposits (18.1.5). It can still ask earlier, and an account can be closed if you don’t finish KYC in the time given (11.1(v)). BitStarz didn’t ask me for ID during my test. Its terms do allow checks at any stage, including phone verification (8.7.4, 8.7.11).

“Any time” casinos: Stake (6.0)

Stake’s terms let it request KYC at any time and hold withdrawals until you’re verified (4.8, 8.1, 8.12). That’s normal for a big operator, but it scored lower than Cloudbet because there’s no published trigger. My Stake review has the full breakdown, and I set Stake against Cloudbet in Cloudbet vs Stake.

Where KYC caused trouble: 5.5 and below

Shuffle and Roobet score 5.5 because of their public complaint records: Shuffle’s centres on slow KYC holding withdrawals, and Roobet’s on source-of-funds holds on big withdrawals. mBit and Moonbet score 5.5 because their terms allow selfie or video-call checks, and 7Bit because its terms allow a KYC review of up to 30 working days. BetFury and Mirax drop to 5.0 with monthly dormancy fees. Thunderpick is the warning case: its KYC & account score is capped at 3.0 because idle balances are zeroed after 12 months.

Still provisional: Duelbits, Wild.io, Metaspins, KatsuBet

I haven’t itemised the KYC terms for these four yet, so their scores are placeholders, not a sign they’re light on checks. Duelbits’ one rule I’ve flagged is one account per person: duplicate accounts risk confiscation.

How to avoid a KYC hold

  1. Verify before you need to withdraw, ideally right after your first deposit.
  2. Use your real name and address from the start.
  3. Keep one account per casino.
  4. Never use a VPN to reach a casino from a restricted country. It breaks the terms and can cost you your balance.
  5. Don’t leave balances sitting idle at sites with dormancy fees or inactivity rules.

My take

No crypto casino I’ve tested is truly “no KYC”. The ones that treat you best tell you the rules plainly. If ID checks are your main worry, Cloudbet’s published trigger and BitStarz’s no-ID test are the most predictable, and Stake is the highest-rated overall at 7.2/10. Whichever you choose, have your documents ready before you deposit anything you’d mind waiting for.

FAQ

Are there crypto casinos with no KYC at all?

Not among the casinos I tested. Every one’s terms allow ID checks, even if some didn’t ask during my test.

Which casino asked for ID during your test?

My BitStarz review records that no ID was requested in my Oct 2026 test. KYC can still be requested at any stage under its terms.

Can a casino keep my money if I fail KYC?

Terms vary. Cloudbet can close an account if KYC isn’t completed in the time given (11.1(v)), and Mirax can lock an account for failed KYC if you can’t be reached within two weeks. Read the clauses in each review before you deposit.
