BitStarz vs Shuffle: Same 6.8 Score, Opposite Risks

BitStarz and Shuffle both score 6.8/10 under our How We Rate method, and both paid my $100 BTC test withdrawal within the casino’s stated timeframe. On a ranking table they look interchangeable. They aren’t. The things that can go wrong sit in different places: at BitStarz the risk is written into the bonus contract, and at Shuffle it shows up in the public complaint record. Which one suits you depends on which of those you can avoid.

Everything here comes from my two reviews as they read today. Where a row says “not documented on my review”, I haven’t recorded it; that doesn’t mean the casino has no such rule.
The tie, to two decimals
The headline scores are rounded. Unrounded, BitStarz’s weighted total is 6.80 and Shuffle’s is 6.75, so Shuffle rounds up to the same 6.8. Here is where the gap comes from. The last column is my own arithmetic: the score difference in each category multiplied by its weight.
| Category (weight) | BitStarz | Shuffle | Weighted difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payouts (30%) | 7.5 | 6.5 | BitStarz +0.30 |
| Licence & safety (20%) | 6.5 | 7.0 | Shuffle +0.10 |
| Bonus terms (15%) | 5.0 (capped) | 7.0 | Shuffle +0.30 |
| Games (15%) | 8.0 | 8.0 | level |
| KYC & account (10%) | 6.5 | 5.5 | BitStarz +0.10 |
| Support (10%) | 6.5 (provisional) | 6.0 (provisional) | BitStarz +0.05 |
| Weighted total | 6.80 | 6.75 | BitStarz +0.05 |
The two biggest swings cancel each other out. BitStarz gains 0.30 on payouts, because it charges no casino or processor withdrawal fees, while Shuffle’s payout score is pulled down by recurring public complaints about withdrawal holds. Shuffle gains exactly the same 0.30 back on bonus terms, because BitStarz’s bonus score is capped at 5 by a discretionary void clause (terms 9.4.6). What is left is small: BitStarz is 0.05 ahead on KYC and support, minus Shuffle’s edge on licence. Neither score is “really” higher. The tie is a fair summary of two different trade-offs.
One difference the totals hide is confidence. BitStarz is rated High: only Support is provisional. Shuffle is rated Medium, with Support provisional too, and its payout and KYC scores lean on third-party complaint data rather than anything that went wrong in my test.
BitStarz: the risk is on paper
Nothing went wrong in my BitStarz test. The problems are clauses you agree to when you take the welcome package:
- Bonuses must be wagered 40 times (bonus terms 3.4), and welcome package bonuses expire after 7 days (3.7). That is a lot of betting in a week.
- Table and live games typically contribute 5% (3.5). Clearing 40x on blackjack is effectively 800x.
- Max bet with an active bonus is 5 EUR/USD or 0.00006 BTC, including bonus buys (3.10).
- Bonuses and winnings can be voided for “any other actions which may damage the Casino” (9.4.6). This is the clause that caps the bonus score.
- Outside the bonus: substantial wins may be paid in monthly instalments (8.7.3), significant wins are checked with the game provider first (8.7.8), and dormant accounts (6 months) are charged at least EUR 5 a month (13.1).
How to sidestep most of it: skip the welcome package and play with your own balance, which removes the 40x, the max bet and the void clause from the picture. Withdraw what you aren’t using so the dormancy fee never applies. If you do want to try it, our code CAMEL50 gives 50 no-deposit free spins with 40x wagering and a max win of 100. T&Cs apply.

Shuffle: the risk is in the record
Shuffle’s terms are the cleaner of the two on my reading: no single high-wagering match bonus and no discretionary-void clause found. Its weak spot is how players report being treated when a withdrawal is held:
- Casino.guru gives it a Low Safety Index of 4.8 and a “bad” complaints ratio, with 189 complaints in total, many about withdrawal holds and KYC. It found no unfair terms.
- AskGamblers scores it 5.2/10 and lists 74 complaints, mostly about payments, with most resolved.
- Its Trustpilot rating is currently hidden after Trustpilot removed fake reviews.
- It is a young brand, established in 2024.
- Buying SHFL tokens shares your account data with a separate entity, Eight Dynastic Golden Elephants Ltd (SHFL Convert Terms).
How to sidestep most of it: verify your account before you need to withdraw, and keep balances small, which is also what my review recommends. If a withdrawal is held, the complaint pattern says support can be slow, so plan around that.

Four questions that decide it
Do you bet on sports?
Then it is Shuffle. Casino and sportsbook share one account and wallet. My BitStarz review doesn’t list a sportsbook.
Do you want to claim a welcome bonus?
Neither is built for it, in different ways. BitStarz has a classic package that is hard to clear (40x in 7 days, slots only in practice). Shuffle has no single headline bonus; its rakeback and promotions each carry their own terms, so read the offer page before opting in.
Will you keep a balance on site between sessions?
Lean BitStarz, but cash out before 6 months of inactivity because of the EUR 5 a month dormancy fee. At Shuffle, my review’s advice is to keep balances small because of the withdrawal-hold complaints.
Do you mostly play live dealer or table games?
BitStarz has live dealer tables in its lobby, but its bonus weights them at 5%, so play them without a bonus. Shuffle’s 15,000+ games are per Shuffle’s own count, and my review doesn’t break down its live lobby.
My pick
For a casino-only player who will skip the welcome offer, I would pick BitStarz: a licence I verified as active, no withdrawal fees, a lobby running since 2014 and a High-confidence score. For anyone who wants sports and casino in one wallet, Shuffle is the better fit, as long as you verify early and keep the balance modest. If neither trade-off suits you, Stake is the highest-scoring casino I have tested (7.2/10). See BitStarz vs Stake and Stake vs Shuffle.
FAQ
Is BitStarz or Shuffle better?
They tie at 6.8/10. Unrounded, BitStarz is 6.80 and Shuffle 6.75. BitStarz is stronger on payouts and weaker on bonus terms; Shuffle is the reverse.
Did both pay out in your test?
Yes. Both paid a $100 BTC withdrawal within the casino’s stated timeframe, and BitStarz didn’t ask for ID.
Which has lower wagering?
BitStarz’s welcome bonuses carry 40x wagering with a 7-day expiry. Shuffle doesn’t run one fixed match bonus; each promotion sets its own wagering. Compare the current offer pages before you claim. Our low-wagering bonuses comparison covers both.
Are they licensed?
Both hold Curaçao licences: BitStarz OGL/2024/165/0185 (Gareton B.V.) and Shuffle OGL/2024/1337/0628 (Natural Nine B.V.). Curaçao regulation offers less player protection than UK or Ontario licensing.
